NCTAF: Encore Careers in Math and Science Education

In encore careers, Baby Boomers have the opportunity to bring their career expertise to areas where they hope to make a difference. In education, retired STEM professionals can bring in real-world project lessons and model the inquiry, collaboration, and creativity of their former work in classrooms as Outside Content Experts. A New Equation: How Encore Careers in Math and Science Education Equal More Success for Students (2010) presents the opportunities and challenges associated with this work, including case studies and testimonies from Encore careerists and NCTAF’s Learning Studios work.
