Partnership with KnowledgeWorks Foundation
With the advent of the 21st century, new drivers of change have emerged that empower educators to lead and shape the reinvention of learning environments. An alliance between NCTAF and the KnowledgeWorks Foundation engages NCTAF's state coalition network in the process of building 21st century learning organization in their states.
The Map of Future Force, created by KnowledgeWorks Foundation in partnership with the Institute for the Future, forecasts forces that will influence public education over the next decade. By using the Map as a catalyst for conversation, we can establish a common framework for collectively built plans that re-imagine and transform the teaching career; re-invent the way we prepare teachers; transform schools into genuine learning organizations; and generate authentic learning assessment and education needs.
- Invitation to States to Look at Their Teaching Quality Initiatives Through Forces on the Map
NCTAF encourages all state leadership teams to crystallize their goals by articulating a five-year vision for education, with a three-year plan and first-year action strategy, all of which are steeped in the context of the Map of Future Forces. By using the map as a lens, we can begin to look at education in each state, generate questions and take a thoughtful look at current and future directions. The Innovations Inventory chart helps states to frame discussions and understand where they're going and how to get there.
Five of our partner states (Georgia, Hawaii, New Jersey, South Carolina and West Virginia) came together at Wingspread in Racine, Wisconsin for a three-day retreat to develop an action agenda for re-inventing education in their state.
