Building A Professionally Rewarding Career for Teachers
The National Commission on Teaching and America's Future (NCTAF) hosted a six-state (ID, MT, NM, OR, UT, WA) regional meeting to discuss teacher compensation and tiered licensure. The meeting was sponsored by Washington Mutual and was convened on November 14-15, 2004, at the Hotel Monaco in Seattle, Washington.
Meeting Goals:
Through interactions with experts and state team participants, to gain a better understanding for:
- Alternative teacher compensation systems, including pay for performance and knowledge- and skill-based pay systems;
- How tiered licensure systems and differentiated staffing in schools relate to alternative types of compensation systems.
