'Teaching at Risk' Report Sheds Light on Strategies to Ensure that Every Child Has a Highly Qualified Teacher
January 14, 2004 - In its report, Teaching at Risk: A Call to Action, the Teaching Commission adds a powerful voice to the call for improving teacher retention by transforming the way that public school teachers are recruited, educated and supported. "This new report adds political will to the recommendations made in No Dream Denied: A Pledge To America's Children, by the National Commission on Teaching and America's Future (NCTAF). Well-prepared teachers are the most valuable resource a community can provide to its young people. The new Teaching Commission's report will add significant momentum to our efforts to ensure that teachers are qualified to meet the learning needs of 21st century students by insisting that they are educated in strong teacher preparation programs that meet rigorous standards," said Tom Carroll, president of NCTAF.
