Karen Abercrombie

Karen Abercrombie is the Director of Communications & Public Policy Outreach at NCTAF.

Prior to joining NCTAF in July 2003, Ms. Abercrombie was an Associate at CommunicationWorks, LLC, a Washington-based public affairs firm that specializes in K-12 education, higher education, and social policy issues. Ms. Abercrombie has worked with a number of education policy groups to provide strategic communication plans, release national reports, and conduct research. Before her post at CommunicationWorks, Ms. Abercrombie was a reporter for Education Week. She covered a wide range of topics including teacher recruitment practices, early childhood education, and state education policy issues. She also provided state policy updates for Ed Week's annual reports Quality Counts and Technology Counts.

Ms. Abercrombie received a MA in Mass Communications from Towson (MD) University and a BA in Journalism/Mass Communications and African Studies from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.
